PROP MASTER/ SPECIAL FX

This past weekend was amazing as I had the incredible opportunity to work in the Art / Swing crew for a T.V show pilot, a gritty, dramatic, and astonishing film called "Hitting Rock Bottom" directed by Corey Snyder. As Prop Master I got to assist with the creation of some Dope ass props for the film's gritty and dramatic scenes, as well as dress the sets for background atmosphere and continuity.

In addition to working alongside some INCREDIBLY talented people and making some Amazing new friends and colleagues (Shout-outs to my fellow Art crew members Stephane,  Ming, Lisa, K and V Star!) I was able to work with my O.G partner in crime, artist Shenna Vaughn where for the first time I created Special FX makeup on one of the actors, Malcolm Xavier.

We Totally Rocked it! Some pics below of some of the props and the Special FX work. *It's not real..i promise! ;)

*CRACK IS WACK! But these props are DOPE!

*Dayuummm Homie! You got F@<D UP!!

Special FX makeup on the very talented actor Malcolm Xavier.

Gilbrando Acevedo played the hell outta his role as a professional ass kicker.

Heck I even got to play an extra as a crackhead/ low level drug dealer/ bum!

So excited about this amazing project! Stay tuned for updates!

DIVA

Partial detail from "The Angel's Advocate" digital painting.

This concept was a depiction of Mariah Carey that was inspired by her Angel's Advocate tour. Originally in 2009 I created watercolor painting of Mariah posed like the statue of liberty and even brought it to the New Years Eve Angel's Advocate concert at Madison Square Garden. I remember holding the painting up during Mariah's performance of "It's Like That" and Mariah spotted me in the audience and fist pumped me while singing and she smiled a beaming smile giving me her approval! I wanted to give the painting to Mariah herself that night and ended up meeting Sherry her backup singer outside who told me where to drop it off for her.

I never dropped it off because I would've rather gave it to her in person and it is good i didn't because since then i noticed how I wanted to make it better. There were alot of problems with the proportions and I had made Mariah look too cartoony. It did not have the poetic-ness of the statue of liberty that i wanted it to have, nor did it scream divaness to me. So with that being said I did it again. This time as a digital painting using a cheap stylus pen and Wacom drawing tablet, and my photoshop program. So after a month of practically torturing my hands, drawing every single stroke manually, I created my new and improved "Angel's Advocate Painting".

So am I satisfied? Mostly...except that i still haven't got to give the painting to Mimi. And because of that, I want it to be even better. Next time it's going to be done on huge canvas in all Oil paint. You heard it here first....:)

URINETOWN DOODLES

I'm still a bit awestruck over my school Lehman College's Theatre production of Urinetown The Musical.I had the absolute pleasure of working backstage as part of the run crew last week. I got to reacquaint myself with some peops whom I haven't seen in a while as well as meet some amazing new people. The talent amongst all involved, the actors, the crew, the director...A+mazing. In between work I managed to do some doodling of characters from the play and the actors whose characters I depicted really loved 'em. I didn't get to get every body but I do intend to eventually. So anyways, here's some new doodly doo dahs i did in my LEH class today....of Jean Paul and Debbie or more specifically their Urinetown characters, the sinister "Mr. Cladwell" and his neurotic daughter "Hope". Also below that are more characters played so adorably by Kailah...sorry i forget her characters name but ima just call her "Crazy Esmerelda Guzman From the 5th floor With the Clamato Can rollers in her hair", and also Phillips "Bobby the Hero Strong". Man I need to see all you guys in action again! More doodles to come soon of the rest of the bizarre and delightful cast!

And here are some additional doodles of some scenes in "Urinetown..."

And here is a cast and crew photo of most of the freaks and geeks of the production, including me taking a "piss". lol
